The University Science High School has a new building located at the exterior part of the school grounds, near the CLSU Administration Office.
Having an area of 196 square meters, the building has four divisions of 7m x 7m. Each room is separated by a collapsible wooden wall, which if folded, will connect the rooms and turn the building into a small conference hall. The walkway has a dimension of 28m x 1.5m.
The construction started on June 24 and was supervised by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
The project was funded by Cong. Joseph Gilbert F. Violago of the Second District of Nueva Ecija, in cooperation with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) led by its president, Engr. Enrico G. Divina.
Engr. Ronald Solero, in charge of construction, said, “We are constructing the building based on standard plan and specifications according to national building code.”
The new building will house the third and fourth year students. Second year students will occupy the fourth year rooms while the first year will transfer to the second year rooms.
The old first year rooms will be converted into a faculty room, SBO and PEHM offices. The third year rooms will be Math/Physics office, and display room for sciences and other projects. The old faculty room will be converted into a faculty lounge, especially for the majority of the faculty members who do not go home for lunch.
Another major accomplishment by the PTA was the Tambayan II, completed on December 30, 2007. It is located beside the basketball court, where an herbal garden was formerly situated. The computer room was also renovated and expanded to accommodate 21 new computers in addition to the existing ones.
Other projects include rehabilitating the badminton court near Tambayan I, two brand new goal baskets, and the tiling of the Audio-Visual Room (courtesy of Class ‘82).
The renovation of the USHS building amounts to P2 million. As of now, 75% has already been finished, and the next 25% will be completed in the first semester, SY 2009-2010.
