Prof. Randolf Warren Gregorio T. Mayo II, assistant principal of the University Science High School, has once again proven his competence of leadership as he was elected president of the CLSU Faculty Association Inc. (FAI).
He outdid his opponent, Prof. Alfredo V. Manangan of the College of Arts and Sciences, Social Science Dept. after garnering 142 votes over 115 of the latter through secret balloting. Being the runner-up automatically made Prof. Manangan the vice-president as stated in the constitution’s rules.
Prof. Mayo succeeded Dr. Florentina D. Monta of the College of Arts and Sciences after a two-year term of service.
Dr. Ruben C. Sevilleja, president of CLSU, administered the oath-taking ceremonies on August 11.
“I will serve as the association’s ears,” Prof. Mayo said as he describes his candidness in listening to the faculty members and conveying their messages to the CLSU Administration and the BOR to uphold faculty welfare.
His plans embrace inclusion of the overload pay in the annual budget, bringing back the payment of sports and cultural allowance, review of the policies on senior faculty of tenure, more productive income generating projects, provision of equal opportunity for faculty in attending seminars, trainings and in conducting researches; and foremost, follow-up of updating GSIS’ records of CLSU faculty and staff and the implementation of programs regarding loans and retirement benefits.
He wants that FAI will serve as a vanguard for the transparent fiscal management of the university.
Being the FAI president, he sits as a member of the CLSU Board of Regents.
Prof. Mayo finished his AB Political Science degree from the Dr. Nicanor Reyes Memorial College, Tarlac (1992) and MA in Political Science from the Manuel L. Quezon University, Manila (2002).
During his 14 years of teaching in the university, he has also earned units leading to a Ph.D. in Development Education at the Institute of Graduate Studies, CLSU.
