USHS Alumnus, Wilfredo O. Pascual, Jr. is this year's Grand Prize Winner in Essay Writing in the most prestigious and coveted national award for literature, the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Award for his work, Devotion.
Pascual was a Breadloaf Work Study Scholar for Creative Nonfiction in the United States in 2003. He is also an alumnus of the New York University Creative Program. He is an awardee of the Natatanging Novo Ecijano sa Pagsulat here at the College of Arts and Sciences, Central Luzon State University.
In 1984 at the University Science High School, he received the Journalism Award.
Two of his works; Guns, and Return to the Great Books were published by Anvil Publishing and Southeast Asian Regional Center for Archaeology and Fine Arts in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
Wilfredo Pascual visited the University Science High School on September 6, 2004. He gave an inspirational message to the students, and shared his memorable experiences in his classroom, during the Monday program sponsored by The Researcher and Student Body Organization.
At present, he works as a Publications Officer of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMO) Secretariat currently based in Bangkok, Thailand.
